Crashed

**When life crashes down around us, how hard are we willing to fight for the one thing we can’t live without, each other?**
Life is full of moments.
Big moments.
Little moments.
*And none of them are inconsequential. *
Every single moment prepares you for that one instance that defines your life. You must overcome all your fears, confront the demons that chase you, and cleanse the poison that clings to your soul or you risk the chance of losing everything.
*Mine started the minute Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet. She made me feel. Made me whole when all I thought I could ever be was incomplete.* Became the lifeline I never knew I needed. *Hell yes, she’s worth the fight…but how do you fight for someone you know you don’t deserve?*
Love is full of ups and downs.
Heart stopping highs.
Soul shattering lows.
*And none of them are insignificant.*
Love is a racecourse of unexpected twists and turns that must be negotiated. You have to break down walls, learn to trust, and heal from your past in order to win. But sometimes it’s the expected that’s the hardest to hold on to.
*Colton has healed and completed me, stolen my heart, and made me realize our love’s not predictable nor perfect—it’s bent.* And bent’s okay. *But when outside factors put our relationship to the test, what lengths will I have to go to prove to him that he’s worth the fight?*
Whoever said love is patient and love is kind, never met the two of us. We know our love is worth it—have acknowledged that we were meant to be—but when our pasts crash into our future, will the repercussions make us stronger or break us apart?

Crash

Ben Singer, an omega werewolf, has been in love with his former best friend and the alpha scion of their wolf pack, Axel, from the time they were teenagers. Ben thought they were mates, but the rules of their pack kept them apart.
Axel Cross is a fuck-up. The sexy tattooed wolf threw away his chances of ever becoming pack alpha at seventeen, and Ben has no idea why.
When Axel’s uncle kicks Ben out of their Pittsburgh pack, it’s the chance the omega has been waiting for. Then Axel demands to accompany the smaller wolf. The only problem is Ben wants to run away for good – away from the pack Axel’s uncle decided the omega should join and away from Axel.
But Axel doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. He’s determined to go with Ben, even if the omega doesn’t want him around.
While desire stirs between Axel and Ben, years of heartache haunt them. Can the alpha and omega let go of their past and the old pack in order to find a bright new future together?

Crafted in Britain

Crafted in Britain is a celebration of Britain’s traditional crafts and industries that have survived into the modern world, not as museums but on their merits. In an age of increasing automation and standardisation, it is a joy to find such places, where craftsmanship and personal skills are still valued.

Their world is recreated in Rob Scott’s dramatic photographs, while the processes and history of the different industries is described in the accompanying text by Anthony Burton. They have travelled the country from the Spey valley in Scotland, where they recorded the workers in a traditional distillery and a cooperage, to Cornwall and the studio of a specialist pub sign painter. They have gone underground with a Free Miner of the Forest of Dean and seen molten metal being poured to create majestic church bells.

The book delights in the variety and individuality of the different industries. For both author and photographer it has been a revelation to see some of these processes at work: to watch a craftsman take a strip of silver and work it by hand into a spoon, or to find clocks being made in a workshop that looks as if it has scarcely changed for a hundred years. Now readers have the opportunity to share these experiences and delight in the discovery of these magnificent survivors.

The Craft of Scientific Writing

Designed to help both professional and student scientists and engineers write clearly and effectively, this text approaches the subject in a fresh way. Using scores of examples from a wide variety of authors and disciplines, the author – himself a writer and physicist — demonstrates the difference between strong and weak scientific writing, and how to convey ideas to the intended audience. In addition, he gives advice on how to start writing, and how to revise drafts, including many suggestions about approaching a wide variety of tasks – from laboratory reports to grant proposals, from internal communications to press releases – as well as a concise guide to appropriate style and usage.

### Recensione
From review of the first edition
“This book offers effective methods for improving writing efficiency and overcoming difficulties during the preparation of technical information.”
Robert L. Schmitt, Doctoral Candidate at the University of Wisconsin
“A refreshing addition to a genre dominated by English teacher-style textbooks. Instead of listing rules that constrain writers, the book uses examples to lay out the path to successful communication … Especially helpful (and entertaining) is the chapter on the writing process. Anyone who has spent more time avoiding a writing task than actually doing it will appreciate Alley’s tips.”
–Dr. Ellen Ochoa, Deputy Director of Flight Crew Operations, Johnson Space Center

Cracking Codes With Python

Learn how to program in Python while making and breaking ciphers—algorithms used to create and send secret messages!
After a crash course in Python programming basics, you’ll learn to make, test, and hack programs that encrypt text with classical ciphers like the transposition cipher and Vigenère cipher. You’ll begin with simple programs for the reverse and Caesar ciphers and then work your way up to public key cryptography, the type of encryption used to secure today’s online transactions, including digital signatures, email, and Bitcoin.
Each program includes the full code and a line-by-line explanation of how things work. By the end of the book, you’ll have learned how to code in Python and you’ll have the clever programs to prove it!
You’ll also learn how to:
* Combine loops, variables, and flow control statements into real working programs
* Use dictionary files to instantly detect whether decrypted messages are valid English or gibberish
* Create test programs to make sure that your code encrypts and decrypts correctly
* Code (and hack!) a working example of the affine cipher, which uses modular arithmetic to encrypt a message
* Break ciphers with techniques such as brute-force and frequency analysis
There’s no better way to learn to code than to play with real programs. *Cracking Codes with Python* makes the learning fun!

The Crack in Space

In **The Crack in Space**, a repairman discovers that a hole in a faulty Jifi-scuttler leads to a parallel world. Jim Briskin, campaigning to be the first black president of the United States, thinks alter-Earth is the solution to the chronic overpopulation that has seventy million people cryogenically frozen; Tito Cravelli, a shadowy private detective, wants to know why Dr Lurton Sands is hiding his mistress on the planet; billionaire mutant George Walt wants to make the empty world all his own. But when the other earth turns out to be inhabited, everything changes.
Winner of both the Hugo and John W. Campbell awards for best novel, widely regarded as the premiere science fiction writer of his day, and the object of cult-like adoration from his legions of fans, Philip K. Dick has come to be seen in a literary light that defies classification in much the same way as Borges and Calvino. With breathtaking insight, he utilizes vividly unfamiliar worlds to evoke the hauntingly and hilariously familiar in our society and ourselves.

At least, until I get the chance to fight back against the disturbingly seductive angels. In fact, I’m going undercover as a spy in their castle. I have two goals: learn their weaknesses, and find my missing sister.
Problem is, I have to pretend to be someone I’m not: an alluring succubus. If one of the angels discovers who I really am, the fate of the world could lie in ruins.
I can’t let that happen. The angels tried to destroy my world, and it’s my turn to ravage theirs.

The Coup

*The Coup* describes violent events in the imaginary African nation of Kush, a large, landlocked, drought-ridden, sub-Saharan country led by Colonel Hakim Félix Ellelloû. (“A leader,” writes Colonel Ellelloû, “is one who, out of madness or goodness, takes upon himself the woe of a people. There are few men so foolish.”) Colonel Ellelloû has four wives, a silver Mercedes, and a fanatic aversion—cultural, ideological, and personal—to the United States. But the U.S. keeps creeping into Kush, and the repercussions of this incursion constitute the events of the novel. Colonel Ellelloû tells his own story—always elegantly, and often in the third person—from an undisclosed location in the South of France.
