Dissent

HER MIND IS MORPHING BY THE MINUTE…PREPARE TO HAVE YOURS BLOWN!
Cancel your lunch and dinner dates, and clear out your inbox at work before picking up **DISSENT**, the **SEVENTH** installment of the **action-packed sci-fi fantasy series**, Rise Of The Iliri! Because this is the truth: This epic series, spellbinding from the first, only becomes more powerfully enthralling with each adventure.** Start DISSENT at your peril if you have looming deadlines!**
Author Auryn Hadley goes deep rather than wide on this one, reveling in the relationships that are the source of power of Salryc Luxx, commander of the Anglian army and leader of all iliri. Danger surrounds her on all sides: from the enemy’s encroachment on the borders of her former homeland, to the many humans who still perceive the iliri species as an enslaved inferior race. **The thing that Sal fears most though, is losing her mind; all members of her lineage have been driven mad as their powers increased–and Sal’s mind is morphing by the minute.**
Even before Sal joined the Black Blades, they were the best of her country’s elite forces, bred to be ferocious predators and trained to be deadly soldiers. They think as one, feel as one, yet possess their own special abilities; and the long-held secret, that the Black Blades are all crossbred iliri, is now out in the open. **With the addition of Sal, a purebred iliri, they have become the most deadly creatures on the continent.** Now the country that disbanded them needs them to defeat the invading Terrans. Sal desperately wants to defeat the Terrans and their leader, who will stop at nothing to wipe out the iliri. Ironically, saving the country that enslaved her people is the only way to save them.
But can she, the Blades, and their human allies overcome the resentment against iliri influence, and the rising tide of dissent that threatens to tear the country apart from within? To do that, the Blades will have to do what they do best: fight their way through it – in the heart-pounding battle scenes Hadley describes so well.
As the strain begins to show, Sal is trying to let herself lean on the Blades, a band of brothers, some of whom share her bed – and it’s getting really crowded in the bedroom! **The more of them there are, the more adorable these guys get**, like puppies piled up around a warm fire. Although some of the human males in Sal’s world aren’t quite used to the reverse harem model of family life the iliri favor, the smoking (but tasteful) sex scenes are guaranteed to please readers.
Rise Of The Iliri will keep epic fantasy and action-adventure fans—as well as crossover romance and mystery readers—hypnotized into the wee hours. (Grown people. Magical though they may be, these are definitely not books for the underage crowd!) **Because of the exotic sexual instincts of the iliri, DISSENT may not be suitable for humans under 18./b>
Fans of Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern will find Sal’s planet Ogun an irresistible destination for their next fantasy fix, and some fans may be reminded of Avatar without the scary beasts, or Game of Thrones. (But happier.)**

Disney Declassified

*This is an alternate cover edition for [9780692256176](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22856714-disney-declassified) *
Welcome to the world of Disney Declassified, a REAL look at some of the situations that play out in their theme parks, their corporate boardroom and all too often, a courtroom. Some of the situations are heartbreaking, others are head-scratching, and all of them are tales Disney would rather you not hear.
Walt Disney, the company bearing his name, and their theme parks have been analyzed and chronicled almost ad nauseam. The word Disney conjures up different feelings for different people. For many, the Walt Disney Company stands for all things wholesome, family-centric, moral and entertaining, but every now and then scandalous and salacious behavior seeps into the utopian world of Disney.
Disney Declassified isn’t about the analysis of the Disney Company at a deep or philosophical level—actually it’s quite the contrary; it is a collection of true stories with Disney being the setting or the catalyst in situations that are very un-Disney-like. In some of these instances, not every Disney story ends happily ever after;
•The shocking time a baby was born and abandoned in a Magic Kingdom toilet.
•When an eight-year-old girl was randomly shot in the back while riding aboard the Disneyland Railroad.
•The controversial story of a handicapped woman having her Disneyland annual pass suspended for speeding and running into other guests with her motorized scooter.
•What do a priest accused of molesting multiple children and the founder of a Ponzi scheme have in common? They both fled their situations and went to work at Walt Disney World.
•The diabolical tale of a woman who sold her newborn baby for $15,000 to take her other children on a trip to Walt Disney World.
•The role a former Nazi SS member played in the construction of Walt Disney World.
•Two hostage situations at Walt Disney World, with one at EPCOT tragically ending in suicide.
•How a peeping Tom set up an elaborate system to spy on female cast members as they changed for work inside Cinderella’s Castle.
•Ever hear of something called “Sphinctering?” If you were one of the unlucky guys working for the fire company on Walt Disney World property, you may have been subjected to this form of male-on-male sexual harassment.
•Find out how the public helped to identify and track down a despicable child pornographer based on the Disney resort in the background images the police released from his reprehensible videos.
The Disney docket doesn’t end with cases of ride accidents, sex, crimes, death and violence. There are multiple stories of people faking cancer to score a free trip to Disney World, interesting copyright infringement and Americans with Disability Act lawsuits and a touching story of how a young boy with autism utilizes Disney characters to communicate with his family.
However you feel about Disney, lover or hater, explore these stories and many more, when the real world collides with Disney and their world. Chances are you may never view Disney the same way again!

Disintegration: The Splintering of Black America

###
**Instead of one black America, today there are four.
**
**“There was a time when there were agreed-upon ‘black leaders,’ when there was a clear ‘black agenda,’ when we could talk confidently about ‘the state of black America’—but not anymore.” —from *Disintegration*
**
The African American population in the United States has always been seen as a single entity: a “Black America” with unified interests and needs. In his groundbreaking book, *Disintegration*, Pulitzer-Prize winning columnist Eugene Robinson argues that over decades of desegregation, affirmative action, and immigration, the concept of Black America has shattered. Instead of one black America, now there are four:
• a Mainstream middle-class majority with a full ownership stake in American society;
• a large, Abandoned minority with less hope of escaping poverty and dysfunction than at any time since Reconstruction’s crushing end;
• a small Transcendent elite with such enormous wealth, power, and influence that even white folks have to genuflect;
• and two newly Emergent groups—individuals of mixed-race heritage and communities of recent black immigrants—that make us wonder what “black” is even supposed to mean.
Robinson shows that the four black Americas are increasingly distinct, separated by demography, geography, and psychology. They have different profiles, different mindsets, different hopes, fears, and dreams. What’s more, these groups have become so distinct that they view each other with mistrust and apprehension. And yet all are reluctant to acknowledge division.
*
Disintegration* offers a new paradigm for understanding race in America, with implications both hopeful and dispiriting. It shines necessary light on debates about affirmative action, racial identity, and the ultimate question of whether the black community will endure.

Discovering Pluto

Discovering Pluto is an authoritative account of the exploration of Pluto and its moons, from the first inklings of tentative knowledge through the exciting discoveries made during the flyby of the NASA New Horizons research spacecraft in July 2015. Co-author Dale P. Cruikshank was a co-investigator on the New Horizons mission, while co-author William Sheehan is a noted historian of the Solar System.

Telling the tale of Pluto’s discovery, the authors recount the grand story of our unfolding knowledge of the outer Solar System, from William Herschel’s serendipitous discovery of Uranus in 1781, to the mathematical prediction of Neptune’s existence, to Percival Lowell’s studies of the wayward motions of those giant planets leading to his prediction of another world farther out. Lowell’s efforts led to Clyde Tombaugh’s heroic search and discovery of Pluto—then a mere speck in the telescope—at Lowell Observatory in 1930.

Pluto was finally recognized as the premier body in the Kuiper Belt, the so-called third zone of our Solar System. The first zone contains the terrestrial planets (Mercury through Mars) and the asteroid belt; the second, the gas-giant planets Jupiter through Neptune. The third zone, holding Pluto and the rest of the Kuiper Belt, is the largest and most populous region of the solar system.

Now well beyond Pluto, New Horizons will continue to wend its lonely way through the galaxy, but it is still transmitting data, even today. Its ultimate legacy may be to inspire future generations to uncover more secrets of Pluto, the Solar System, and the Universe.

Discourses on Livy

###
*Discourses on Livy* is the founding document of modern republicanism, and Harvey C. Mansfield and Nathan Tarcov have provided the definitive English translation of this classic work. Faithful to the original Italian text, properly attentive to Machiavelli’s idiom and subtlety of thought, it is eminently readable. With a substantial introduction, extensive explanatory notes, a glossary of key words, and an annotated index, the *Discourses* reveals Machiavelli’s radical vision of a new science of politics, a vision of “new modes and orders” that continue to shape the modern ethos.
“[Machiavelli] found in Livy the means to inspire scholars for five centuries. Within the *Discourses*, often hidden and sometimes unintended by their author, lie the seeds of modern political thought. . . . [Mansfield and Tarcov’s] translation is careful and idiomatic.”—Peter Stothard, *The Times*
“Translated with painstaking accuracy—but also great readability.”—*Weekly Standard*
“A model of contemporary scholarship and a brave effort at Machiavelli translation that allows the great Florentine to speak in his own voice.”—*Choice*

A Dirty Job

EDITORIAL REVIEW: Charlie Asher is a pretty normal guy. A little hapless, somewhat neurotic, sort of a hypochondriac. He’s what’s known as a Beta Male: the kind of fellow who makes his way through life by being careful and constant — you know, the one who’s always there to pick up the pieces when the girl gets dumped by the bigger/taller/stronger Alpha Male. But Charlie’s been lucky. He owns a building in the heart of San Francisco, and runs a secondhand store with the help of a couple of loyal, if marginally insane, employees. He’s married to a bright and pretty woman who actually loves him for his normalcy. And she, Rachel, is about to have their first child. Yes, Charlie’s doing okay for a Beta. That is, until the day his daughter, Sophie, is born. Just as Charlie — exhausted from the birth — turns to go home, he sees a strange man in mint-green golf wear at Rachel’s hospital bedside, a man who claims that no one should be able to see him. But see him Charlie does, and from here on out, things get really weird. . . . People start dropping dead around him, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death. It’s a dirty job. But hey, somebody’s gotta do it. Christopher Moore, the man whose *Lamb* served up Jesus’ “missing years” (with the funny parts left in), and whose *Fluke* found the deep humor in whale researchers’ lives, now shines his comic light on the undiscovered country we *all* eventually explore — death and dying — and the results are hilarious, heartwarming, and a hell of a lot of fun.

Dirty Dix

**’THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!** I fell hard for Dixon…I would give it more than 5 stars if I had them, but until then… 5*****’ *Wicked Good Reads*
**’This book. This book knocked me on my butt, it twisted me up in knots and consumed me until the end.** Just be warned, it is not your typical romance. It’s a wild ride with a naughty, naughty man.’ Kendall Ryan
**I knew she was bad news when she walked into my office, but I just couldn’t help myself…**
Filthy, sexy and full of surprises, **Juliet** is so hot she has me on fire. I’ve met my match and I can’t help going back for more.
Then there’s **Madison**… she’s sweet, funny and awakens in me a fierce need to protect her.
But I don’t do relationships. I don’t usually do the same woman twice.
**Juliet and Madison** Two very different women have got me completely hooked.
**Who will I choose?**
I know who I should choose, but I never said I was the hero of this story, or even the good guy. And besides, who wants to be good, when it feels so good being bad?
My tale isn’t for the faint-hearted. If you’re game, strap yourself in and expect the unexpected. But don’t say I didn’t warn you…
**Achingly sexy and highly addictive, the first in the *Hard Love Romance* series will have you hooked.**
*Note: Previously published as ‘Addicted to Sin’.*
**’Wickedly sexy, provocative and daring** with the right dose of the quintessential bad boy…’ Heidi McLaughlin
‘Monica James is a master of story telling that holds you captive with memorable story lines, intriguing characters, steamy scenes and unexpected twists and turns. You will devour every word she offers. **I am officially addicted to Dixon Mathews.**’ Rachel Brookes
‘A captivating, witty, and sexy read. **Monica James has written an intoxicating novel that will leave you on the edge of your seat and thirsting for more when it’s all over.’** Justine Elvira
‘Monica James has created another character that I couldn’t get enough of. Dr Dixon Mathews **kept me addicted until the very last page.’** Lisa Edward
‘I am addicted to three things: carbs, books, and Monica James. **I devoured this!’** CJ Roberts

Dirty

I’m going to show her how good it can be to get dirty…
JOSEPHINE
Moving to a small town for a new job was the only thing I should be focused on. But the first time I see Gabe, all of that goes out the window. He’s the owner of a garage in the town I now call home, and picturing the filthy things he’d do to me with those grease-stained hands fills my head.
The way he looks at me makes me feel like a woman, like he’s undressing me with his eyes … like he could teach me a thing or two about what a real man does with a woman in his bed.
I don’t care if being with him is fast or sudden. I want him to devour me.
GABE
The first time I lay eyes on Josephine, I know she’ll be mine.
I won’t stop until she is.
I want to get my dirty hands all over her. I want to make that creamy pale skin of hers dark from grease, and red from holding onto her.
And I’ll do all of that, because there’s no way I’m backing off, not until I know I have her.
Warning: You like filthy and insta-love? Well, this story is full of it. If you’re into a hero who knows how to handle his woman, and a heroine who’s all about tall, dark, and dirty, you better hang on because this story will most definitely give you whiplash.

Dirge

Alan Dean Foster has written more than twenty novels set in the Humanx Commonwealth, an unforgettable world where humans, thranx, AAnn, and numerous other aliens live and work side by side. But the amicable relationships between species have always hung in a tenuous balance between distrust and diplomacy. Dirge is the second thrilling novel in The Founding of the Commonwealth, an adventure that delves deeper into the fragile early years when humans made first contact.
In the second half of the twenty-fourth century, diplomatic relations proceed cautiously between thranx and humans, who are slow to overcome their aversion to the insectlike beings. But the lowly thranx are nearly forgotten with the sudden discovery of an ideal planet to colonize–Argus V–and the startling appearance of a new race of space-faring aliens. People are dazzled by the beautiful, glamorous pitar. Then tragedy strikes.
A cargo ship making a routine delivery to Argus V finds a scene of grisly carnage has replaced the bustling new world. The entire human population– 600,000 men, women, and children–has been brutally slaughtered. Not one survivor or a single clue remains to identify the unseen executioners. Even the combined efforts of all alien species prove fruitless in the search for killers who have perpetrated planetary genocide on such a vast scale.
But from a tiny inner moon of Argus V comes a faint, wavering signal–and on that insignificant chunk of rubble lies the key to the crime. The cataclysm that follows is replete with shock and deadly consequences for thranx, pitar, and human alike. For their worlds will change forever by the colossal space battle that is both in their future and their destiny.
